A Great Children's Book
Doug Jones III has written a very fine historical novel for children, Dutch Color. Combining a compelling story, Jones weaves in the background of 17th century Utrecht, and the dutch school of painting. Along the way we encounter the trade of the colour maker, the artist and the great artists of that period. There is nothing articial, no naff "spiritual bits" or "points", instead this is a well produced piece of fiction - read it aloud to the children.
